Prepper Thoughts after the #TropicalStorm Barry Mobilization.

Image
( From Cap Black Social Media ): Thoughts after the #TropicalStorm Barry Mobilization. #Collectiveconsciousness radiated terse expectations regarding what this former Category One hurricane and tropical storm would do when it arrived in New Orleans. Of all words spoken and typed about this event, one I didn't see or hear was, #prepper. It often conjures connotations of militarists, cultists and survivalists, among other ominous " ists " in skeptical minds. Sweeping store closures and mass buying underscored the very real need of folks to have  food, water and other supplies independent of what government and big nonprofits offer in time consuming times of need. The word prepper may make folks uneasy. What makes me even more uneasy is the thought of people hungry, thirsty and frantic during real or imagined crisis because they didn't or couldn't stock supplies to sustain themselves until conditions return to normal. Our sheer numbers as members of the public and potential to displace negativity which innovations can only document and report about can...

Retail experts always advise that good customer service is also good security. As a professional safety creator at a building frequented by many, greeting them is part and parcel of the safety creation process. A salutation makes someone feel welcome. It also gives him a point of contact for questions- a valuable service for newcomers and seasoned stakeholders seeking answers.  If this someone has bad intentions, it also lets him know he's been noticed. Knowing this can help deter unwanted behavior. It also helps identify individuals worthy of extra scrutiny if their response is hostile or startled in a suspicious manner. Assessing occurs continually while I'm working. It goes hand in hand with patrolling, which is the last part of the G.A.P. acronym. Assessing and patrolling...
